The early Years of the Icelandic Song
Bylgja Dís Gunnars­dótt­ir soprano and Helga Bryn­dís Magnús­dótt­ir piano, intro­duct­ion by Trausti Jóns­son.
Program including well-known and as well as virtually unknown songs with piano by some of the pioneers of Icelandic composers from the turn of the century 1900.

Romanticism at the Ocean Front
Agnes Thorsteins mezzo-soprano and Eva Þyri Hilmarsdóttir piano.
Frauenliebe und -leben by Robert Schumann to Adelbert von Chamisso's poem which de­scrib­es a young girl's ex­per­ience of first love. Richard Wagner com­posed Wesen­donck-Lieder to five poems by Mat­hilde Wesen­donck while work­ing on his opera Tristan and Isolde. Some of the themes can be heard in both works.

Attraction and Rejection
Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir mezzo-soprano, Oddur Arnþór Jónsson baritone and Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir piano.
Program includes Four Duets op. 28 by Johannes Brahms and duets and arias by Brahms, Schubert and Schumann. These works express rejection and attraction of nature, love or the the poem itself.

The composer Viktor Urbancic
Victor Urbancic moved to Iceland when the Nazi seizured power in Austria in 1938, and be­came one of the lead­ing figures in the clas­sical music scene here. Com­posit­ions, some of which have never been heard in Iceland, sung and per­form­ed by Kristín Einars­dótt­ir Mäntylä mezzo-soprano, Ágúst Ólafs­son bari­tone, Hlíf Sigur­jóns­dótt­ir violin, pianists Hól­mfríð­ur Sig­urð­ar­dótt­ir and Eva Þyri Hilm­ars­dótt­ir and Urbancic's de­scend­ants Michael Kneihs piano, Milena Dörfl­er violin and Simon Dörfler cello.

Debussy’s cello sonata, Poulenc’s violin sonata and Shosta­kovich’s piano trio no. 2, performed with the com­posers’ texts and letters to­gether with the news of today.

A program of Icelandic folk song arrangements and more recent com­posit­ions as well as music from the British Isles, Spain and Brazil. Music by Britten, Garcia-Lorca, de Falla, Villa-Lobos, Þor­kell Sigur­björns­son, John Speight, Jó­hann G. Jó­hanns­son, Stefán Þor­leifs­son, Þor­steinn Gunn­ar Friðriks­son, Þuríð­ur Jóns­dótt­ir and Ólöf Arn­alds.

Sólveig Sigurðardóttir soprano and Hrönn Þráinsdóttir piano.
Songs and arias by Hugo Wolf, Richard Strauss, Francesco Tosti, Wolfgang A. Mozart and Gioachino Rossini − among others − about the blissful moments you have with the one you love, and the sorrow of lost or unrequited love.

The concerts last for one hour, starting at 8:30 pm. The Museum Café is open after the concerts, where the audience can meet the artists.
